- Arts and crafts: This is such a fun way to spend a few hours and it's even better if you use old items or trash from around the house to craft.
- Treasure-hunt: This can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it. Draw a map, hide the clues, and hey presto!
- Drawing and colouring: A cheap and cheerful way to keep the kids occupied, and to let them explore their creative sides.
- Karaoke: Always lots of laughs guaranteed with a family sing-song.
- Arrange a playdate: It's nice to have friends round, or to take your child to visit their friend.
- Do some chores to earn pocket money: This one kills two birds with one stone; get the housework done while keeping the kids busy!
- Reading: You can make reading time more exciting by building a fort and letting the kids cuddle up inside with their favourite books and some snacks.
- Puzzles and board games: These are always a winner and aside from being great fun, are very important for helping your child develop vital skills.
- Dress up: Some of our favourite childhood memories are of raiding mom's wardrobe and dressing up and putting on a play. Try it!
- Dance: Good for the heart and the soul, a dance-off will get the endorphins flowing and make sure your kids are staying healthy and active.
- Hide and Seek: This one needs no explanation. A game for the ages!
- Baking: This is one of our favourite family activities, not least because you get to feast on what you've made together!
- Nature trail: Depending on how much time you have or how adventurous you're feeling, you could give the kids a list of things to collect from the garden, or take them to your nearest park or woods.
